The first Sovereign dated 2023, struck on the day of King Charles III’s coronation. The 6th May 2023 is the date when Charles III is formally crowned King of the United Kingdom and 14 other Commonwealth nations. He was the longest-serving heir apparent in British history and ascended the throne on the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September 2022. To mark this historical occasion, The Royal Mint has offered a range of commemorative coins including a special BU Sovereign struck on the day of the royal coronation.
