In 1947, Carl Barks, a comic book artist and writer employed by Western Publishing, publisher of American comics for Disney at the time, created the character of Uncle Scrooge McDuck.
His first name, Scrooge, was inspired by the character Ebenezer Scrooge from English author Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
Initially a secondary character, he quickly became a key figure in Duckburg. He is known for amassing an immense fortune, most of which is stored in his expansive Money Bin.
But one coin is particularly dear to him: his lucky dime.
The mini medal is a modern interpretation of Scrooge McDuck's famous lucky dime.
Incidentally, this 10-cent American-inspired coin is the first coin the character earned in his youth after cleaning Burt the Ditchdigger's shoes. This coin inspired Scrooge McDuck to work hard to get what he wanted. For Scrooge, it will forever remain a symbol of success through hard work.
This gold version of the lucky dime is only minted in 1 953 copies: 1 micron of gold is plated onto the mini medal.
