Claude Monet (November 14, 1840 in Paris; December 5, 1926 in Giverny) was an important French painter whose middle creative period is associated with the Impressionist style. His early work up to the mid-1860s includes realistic paintings, some of which Monet was able to exhibit at the Paris Salon.
